It’s been a busy past few weeks with the weather acting up. We had one day of snow, one day of summer, one day of rainfall and one day of spring all in one week. I’d seen people wearing winter jackets accompanied with boots and scarves then suddenly the next day wear shorts and flats. Canadian weather ._.
Nevertheless, I recently heard about the L’Oréal Infallible Eyeshadow Pots (they’re not new, but they’re new to me). Amazing pigmentation with the creaminess of a high-end product at a fraction of the price. With those selling points, I went and purchased 6 shades.

Packaging/Details
One of the main selling points when it comes to high-end/luxury makeup is the packaging. For the price point, I expect good quality materials that are sturdy yet not too bulky and also LOOK good. In that regard, the L’Oreal Infallible eyeshadows may not be as beautiful as their more expensive cousins, but they’re practical and don’t seem to break easily (I already dropped a few). The base of the pot is made of acrylic or plastic alternative and the lid is silver/grey plastic. The lid is opened with a twist and there is a plastic cap that rests directly on the shadow pigments. It’s recommended that you keep the plastic cap – I’m thinking it’s so that the pigments don’t all separate when you’re travelling etc.
Each pot holds 0.12 oz / 3.5 g of product and it sells for approx. 8$ CAD (for comparison, MAC Pro Eyeshadow Pans have 0.04 oz / 1.3 g at the recently reduced price of 8$ CAD). You can purchase it from any drugstore or even grocery store that carries L’Oreal beauty products. In Canada you can definitely obtain these from Walmart, Shoppers Drugmart, Rexall, etc.
Swatches
I’m not quite certain how many shades there are in the whole collection, but I bought mainly nudes and earthy shades (of course) :
- 888 Iced Latte : A very pale champagne with pink undertones. Perfect for brightening the inner corners
- 021 Sahara Treasure : True gold shimmer with a bit of sandy brown mixed in
- 024 Bronze Divine : Warm bronze (like those old dubloons)
- 892 Amber Rush : Think of copper sprinkled with a dash of magic
- 012 Endless Chocolat : A warm earthy brown, like brownie mix
- 009 Permanent Kaki : When I see this shade I think of mermaids, does that explain the colour?
*Note: the shade numbers seem to vary depending on whether it’s a new batch / packaging…
Permanent Kaki is quite unique – it really changes shades depending on your lighting and angle that you look at it. My swatches arent doing it justice =(

If I didn’t see the packaging and just felt how these applied, I wouldn’t have noticed a difference between these and my higher end shadows. They are extremely creamy and apply flawlessly. I mainly use my fingers to apply these to my lids but you can also use a wet brush and apply them as eyeliners.
I personally love Sahara Treasure and Bronze Divine even though I have a few similar shades. Permanent Kaki is definitely the most unique out of my set.
Endless Chocolat didn’t apply as nicely as the others and tends to crease without a primer. If you have fair to medium skintones like me, Iced Latte may not show up on the lids unless you pack on quite a bit. Applied with one layer you will get a mild sheen which is nice for everyday or just an extra boost in the inner corners for a brightening effect.
The L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadows remove easily with a standard make-up remover and also very nicely with oil cleansers. Water won’t do the trick unless you really rub at your skin (don’t do this to your eyes).
Downfall : Without the cap, these shadows tend to separate quite easily and break apart. Just look at my amber rush =(

Overall I couldn’t be more satisfied with these shadows. The quality is above standard especially for a drugstore product and definitely worth your money. I may pick up a few more shades the next time I see them!
Do you have any of these? What is your favourite shade?
